Jessie is a freelance book designer based out of Seattle, Wa. Jessie first began designing book covers over five years ago when her father, an author, ran into trouble with his graphic designer: he had paid a lot of money for something he just wasn’t quite pleased with. Jessie took the cover, switched it from blue to black, added a hint of an accent color, and bam! Her father was thrilled.
Her father’s cover got a lot of attention, and people started asking him who designed it. He replied, “My daughter,” and, pretty soon, Jessie had her first real clients.
Although Jessie’s education is in fashion, she finds that color, proportion, and, most importantly, creativity translate easily from her work as a fashion stylist to her work with books. Jessie will always love fashion but finds the word of books infinitely more fulfilling. Being able to work at three o’clock in the morning in her sweats definitely sweetens the deal too.
Jessie does book covers, interior book layout, promotional materials, and has a knack for punctuation and grammar.
